Cooking Demo

I pulled out an old Echo Park Collection, For the Record, for Challenge #66 at Color Me Scrappy Blog. The colors were perfect for this challenge.

I also used Sketch #86 from My Scraps & More Sketch Blog and combined it with the July 25th challenge on My Scraps & More forum to sew on your layout plus sew on an embellishment.

The end result of combining all those challenges is this layout with some photos from my September 2012 cruise.

Saturday in the Park

The layout I am sharing today contains photos taken in a park in Bayeux France. It is for the week 8 Got Talent challenge at My Scraps & More.

I used this sketch from Stuck Sketches.

I am also entering it in challenge #6 at Scrap & Play Challenges. I used "Saturday in the Park" for the title.

....And Away We Go..

Sharing this layout created for Scrap & Play Challenges Blog and this month's sponsor, Paper Secrets, using this sketch. I also submitted this layout for the Got Talent week 7 mini challenge at My Scraps & More.

For SPLASH, I used:
S - stripes
P - pattern paper, pennant, photo corner
L - layered papers & embellishments
A - anchor, and away we go
S - sail boats
H - happy girls (ok, a bit of a stretch but H was a hard one)

Curry Lamb Burgers with Spinach Raita

While at the farmer's market last month, I purchased some ground lamb and fresh spinach. These ingredients inspired the creation of these burgers.

Curry Lamb Burgers with Spinach Raita

Burgers

1 lb. ground lamb
¼ cup sliced green onions (plus extra for serving)
1 Tbl. Curry powder
½ tsp. cayenne (optional)
1 tsp. cumin
½ tsp. each salt and pepper
Spinach Raita
½ cup plain greek yogurt
2 cloves garlic
2 oz. feta cheese
½ cup chopped spinach
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cumin
1 tsp. honey
2 large Naan Bread, cut in half

Mix together all ingredients for Spinach Raita. This is better if you prepare it a couple hours before serving and store in the refrigerator.

Add all burger ingredients to a bowl and mix together, taking care not to overwork the mixture. Form into four burger patties. Cook 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through.

Place burger on top of Naan bread and top with Spinach Raita and sliced green onions.

Nautical Decor

Sharing a couple of DIY/Pinterest inspired projects I have made recently for the guest room at our cottage.

I found this frame at the thrift store and painted it then glued sissel around the edges with a hot glue gun. I cut the words from vinyl using my Silhouette Cameo and adhered them to the inside of the glass. The background is pattern paper and I cut the nautical rectangles from pattern paper also. I found the starfish on the beach at low tide and brought it home to clean and dry.

I saw something like this at a gift store and thought I could recreate it. The letters and base board are from Michael's. I painted and distressed them, then glued a piece of sissel around the edge of the base board. The ship's wheel is cut with the Silhouette Cameo and the same pattern paper I used in the frame.

I am sharing these projects on Silhouette School Link It Up Party
