Card Making Tutorial

I made this tutorial for the World Card Making Crop at My Sketch World. It was inspired by a card made by cardmaker extraordinaire Jen Pohl,

We will be making a scored, folded card. You can use a Scor It, Scor Pal, or scoring blade on your trimmer. If you don't have any of these, use a metal or plastic ruler and a bone folder or stylus to make your scored line.

You will need cardstock (to match your pattern paper, plus a scrap of lighter shade to use inside), two pieces of coordinating pattern paper and some embellishments.

Cut a piece of cardstock 5" x 12". Lay the cardstock horizontally and score 3" in on the right side and 3-1/2" in on the left side. Using a bone folder, rub the creases really well. Ignore my extra crease on the right side -- I messed up on my measuring buy it's ok if you do, you won't be able to tell when it is finished.
Tip: If you are using textured cardstock, be mindful of the way you fold in your sides so that your texture is on the outside of the card.

Adhere the right panel to the center of the card (only the left flap is going to open on your finished card). Cut your pattern paper for the left panel 3-1/4" x 4-3/4"and your pattern paper for the right panel 2-3/4" x 4-3/4"

Adhere your pattern papers to the card. If you used a dark carstock, cut a 2" x 4-3/4" piece of light colored cardstock and adhere it to the left inside panel of your card to write your sentiment.

Add embellishments and a sentiment as desired.

Challenge at Scrapbook Expressions Blog

I am excited to be joining the design team at Scrapbook Expressions blog. My first post is today's challenge:

I don’t know about where you live, but in Indiana the temperatures are starting to be cooler and the leaves on the trees are turning to brilliant fall colors. For this week’s challenge, I want to see leaves on your layout, card, or altered item. I used the Quickutz 2×2 Singlekutz Leaf Die and placed them on pop dots to give a little dimension. The leaves must be in your pattern paper or embellishments.

Here is my sample for the challenge.

You can check out the full post and details for participating in the challenge here.

World Cardmaking Day

I've been working all weekend on cards for challenges at Scrapdango and Scrapbook Express. Here are a few of my favorite cards created for the Scrapdango challenges. I can't post my Scrapbook Express cards until Wednesday, so I will make another post then.
